LOVE

Sacrificial.
An action.
Loyal.
Correction.
This coming week is Kindness Week, a beautiful reminder to spread a little love and show kindness wherever you go.
This time of year, there is a lot of conversation about love, what it is and what it is not. No matter where you find yourself in the conversation, one truth remains: love is an action, not merely words.
One of the greatest demonstrations of love is God giving His one and only Son to die on the cross for our sins. Now that is love. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (NKJV)
Scripture also gives us a clear picture of what love looks like in everyday life:
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” — 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (NKJV)
So when someone tells you they love you, look for these characteristics consistently. Not only when they want something. Not only when everything is going well. But consistently. That is love.
But love is not only something we give to others, but it is also something we must learn to extend to ourselves. Loving yourself does not mean pride or selfishness; it means recognizing your value as someone created in the image of God. It means giving yourself grace as you grow, forgiving yourself when you fall short, and speaking to yourself with kindness rather than criticism. When we understand God’s love for us, we are better able to love others from a healthy and whole place.
During holidays and meaningful seasons, emotions can run high. Some are grieving the loss of a loved one. Some long to be close to family. Some are searching for love. Others may be in relationships where love is not being returned.
There are so many emotions moving through our society at any given moment. As intentional women, it is important to recognize the difference between surface expressions and genuine love, while extending grace to others who may be walking through seasons we cannot see or understand.
This week, let’s be especially mindful to spread kindness, extend grace, and intentionally show love wherever we go, remembering that we may not know the story behind someone’s silence, frown, or change in behavior.
Because love, real love, is always intentional.

Closing Prayer
Abba Father,
Thank You for showing us the greatest example of love through Jesus. Teach us to love the way You love, with patience, kindness, sacrifice, and grace. Help us to be mindful of others and sensitive to what they may be going through. Let our words, actions, and attitudes reflect Your heart this week. Use us as vessels of kindness and encouragement wherever we go.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
